KotoTunings

KotoTunings is a collection of 25 traditional tunings for

the Japanese Koto. It can be used for tuning the Koto

by ear, for learning scales, or for playing with the different tunings.

The carefully recorded sounds are played both picked with the left hand and plucked with the right hand using ivory picks. The iPad version includes an additional sustained sound for each note.

Notes are indicated on the screen in Japanese and Western style. Root note for all tunings is D at 442 Hz.

*The traditional Japanese names for the twelve tones (Jyuuni Ritsu) are:

C (shinsen) 神仙, C# (kamimu) 上無, D (ichikotsu) 壱越

D# (tangin) 断金, E (hyoujyou) 平調, F (syouzetsu) 勝絶

F# (shimomu) 下無, G (soujyou) 双調, G# (fusyou) 鳧鐘

A (oushiki) 黄鐘, A# (rankei) 鸞鐘, B (banshiki) 盤渉

箏（お琴）は７世紀に中国大陸、百済より渡ってきた日本で最も古くから演奏されている楽器の１つです。お箏（お琴）の基本の調子（スケール）は平調子と呼び、八橋検校（１６１４－１６８５）によって開発されました。伝統的な箏の調子はこの平調子を基本として派生していきました。 KotoTuningsは箏（お琴）の伝統的な２５種類の調子（スケール）を実際の音階にて簡単に鳴らすことが出来るアプリケーションです。 右手で琴爪をつけて弾いた弾き爪奏法と左手で弾いた擦音（ピチカット）奏法、さらにiPad では実音をモジュレートした持続音を鳴らす機能を備えました。アプリケーションは日本語と英語の表記です。シンプルな操作は誰でも気軽に音を出したり、調子移動が可能です。 美しいお箏の音色をサンプリングしてありますのでアプリ自体を自在に使い、お箏を弾いて遊ぶことが出来ます。

詳細：

調律は４４２ヘルツ、調弦は基音をD（レ）を一の糸に合わせた壱越調（いちこつちょう）です。日本の固有の音名である十二律名ではD（レ）は壱越（いちこつ）といいます。

尚、基音をさらに低く、G（ソ）を基準に調弦する場合もあります。この場合は十二律名では双調（そうじょう）といいます。日本の音階は相対音で構成されていますので低く調弦する場合は相対的に音が低くなります。調弦名は生田流の名称を参考にしています。
